Model Advocacy Letter to DRC Ambassador

"A Virtual Meal"  --                                          Thanks to all who contributed to our appeal for
the education of the Congolese people  to act and advocate for themselves for peaceful solutions in this war-torn land.
Your participation as an individual or group was welcome as we create, as best we can, real community in our 'virtual' environment.

Dominican Month for Peace
a unified action of the Dominican Family
- Advent 2018 -

Democratic Republic of the Congo

Our General Promoter of Justice and Peace and Permanent Representative to the United Nations at Geneva, Fr. Mike Deeb, at the Master's request suggested works during this season.  The one we have chose to implement here is

"Collection or Financial Contribution:
In the University of Uélé, which is a Dominican initiative in Isiro, in the Haut- Uélé Province, a Civic Education Program “Le Programme d’éducation civique (PEDUC)”, has been established. The university and this project are largely run by members of the Dominican Family. The project aims to help the people of the Uélé region to know, promote and defend their rights and fundamental freedoms long ignored and flouted after decades of dictatorship followed by abusive “wars of liberation” in the country.
Our financial contributions will be used to support and strengthen this vital project for a better civic and electoral education of the Congolese people through: o Awareness-raising campaigns (including the setting up of a radio/television station) and training sessions on the human rights and duties of citizens, on the nature of democracy and on a culture of tolerance; and offering conflict resolution services to ensure the prevention and management of tribal or interethnic conflicts in these processes."
